During the Summer expect to see 12 hours of sun a day,
in Winter you will get at least 7 hours and an average
temperature of 18-21º Celsius! The area doesn't
get much rain at all.
Spring and Autumn are great times to visit the area,
stretching or starting summer early. Its often mentioned
as the best time to holiday here then. The water
is almost bath warm, the sun not too strong and the
days bright and full of potential. Whenever you
go, don't forget to wear adequate sun protection
and drink lots of bottled water.

It is little wonder that water sports fans and scuba
divers enjoy the weather in Sharm el Sheikh. Average
sea temperatures in Sharm el Sheikh are 20º in January
and reach a gorgeous 26º from July to September.
However, exceptional winter temperatures ensure comfortable,
rewarding diving and water sports all year round.
Many diving fans agree the best visibility is from
May to October. The temperature allows you to dive
without thick wetsuits and when you have to get out,
there's a chilled drink and bit of nice sun to chill
out under, chatting over what you have just seen
and of course planning the next dive.
There are lots of great local dive schools who will
help you to complete beginners courses as well as
helping highly experienced technical divers get the
most from their trip. You can undergo training with
internationally recognised schemes like that of PADI
or just go to enjoy diving and practice your skills.
Wrecks are aplenty, the Thistlegorm and the Dunraven
are the well known, but other reefs have their secrets
too, and if you ask the right dive school, they can
take you to deserted locations to discover the most
unusual underwater scenes. You can dive with the
knowledge that the area has three hospitals and two
hyperbaric chambers, we know you wont be wanting
to make use of their facilities, but its nice to
know that your in very easy reach of some of the
best medical care in the country.
Normally when diving and snorkeling you should get
to see creatures like the blue spotted eagle & sting
rays, lionfish, yellow clown fish, napoleon fish,
large moray eels, yellow and blue masked butterfly
fish, emperor angel fish, giant triggerfish, steep
headed parrot fish, stone fish, bluespine unicorn
fish, shoal surgeon fish, bluegreen pullers, octopi,
blackfin barracudas, large shoals of jacks, red antheas,
lined butterfly fish, nudibranchs and fan corals
to name a few. You might get to see dolphins, grey
reef sharks, manta rays, white tips, scalloped hammerheads
and turtles! If your very lucky, whale sharks, tiger
sharks and whales have been seen around the area.
May to August is great for diving off shore with the
sharks and mantas. June to October is great for schools
of fish. The winter months are great for wreck diving.
All year round you should get good visibility, and
a wide range of marine life.
Snorkeling is so easy here, just buy a mask and
snorkel and come and find Nemo ( a clown fish ) and
his friends on the delicate corals. The water around
Sharm is ideal for snorkeling as its more dense than
most, making you more buoyant, you can float without
effort, just watching the marine life getting on
with things just below you. Don't forget to keep
safe, swim with a friend, make sure you have adequate
sun protection, look but don't touch the wild life,
coral or fish and consider a short training session
from a local ( PADI certified
) dive company who will teach you about what your
seeing, making the most of your time.
Due to Sharm being one of the best diving locations
in the world, there are several very well stocked
dive shops, the dive centers all have gear to hire,
or of course, you can bring your own.
Bring your camera ( underwater or otherwise ), there
are several nearby outlets that can take digital
images from your storage media and put them on to
CD so you can keep snapping for that award winning
photo.
